R.I.P. Ernest Borgnine

From Fox News: Ernest Borgnine, the beefy screen star known for blustery, often villainous roles, but who won the best-actor Oscar for playing against type as a lovesick butcher in "Marty" in 1955, died Sunday. He was 95.
His longtime spokesman, Harry Flynn, told The Associated Press that Borgnine died of renal failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with his wife and children at his side.
Borgnine, who endeared himself to a generation of Baby Boomers with the 1960s TV comedy "McHale's Navy," first attracted notice in the early 1950s in villain roles, notably as the vicious Fatso Judson, who beat Frank Sinatra to death in "From Here to Eternity."

I also remember seeing him play a clown in Milwaukee's circus parade, many years ago.
While he was known for his roles in the big and little screens, through the years he became one of Milwaukee's favorite sons for his faithful and repeated performances at the city's Great Circus Parade, known for its pageantry and colorful wagons brought from the Circus World Museum in Baraboo.
"He was a wonderful ambassador for Milwaukee," Great Circus Parade Co-Chair Bill Fox said Sunday. "He brought star status to the parade. He was the first celebrity we ever used, and he was terribly loyal to the parade."http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/ernie-32622rv-161738365.htmlBorgnine was still working this year, so his career spanned 62 years. Thanks for the memories, Ernest.

Woman Hugs Cop, Killed By Cop's Gun

From The New York Daily News: A woman celebrating the weekend before her 25th birthday was fatally shot Sunday when she hugged an off-duty police officer while dancing at a party, causing the officer's service weapon to fire, according to police and her mother.
Adaisha Miller would have turned 25 on Monday, according to her mother, Yolanda McNair.

The shooting happened at an outdoor social gathering about 12:30 a.m., said police Sgt. Eren Stephens. It happened on the city's west side.

According to Stephens, the woman "embraced the officer from behind, causing the holstered weapon to accidently discharge." The bullet punctured Miller's lung and hit her heart, and she died at a hospital.

Stephens said the Detroit officer will remain on administrative duties while authorities investigate the shooting and report their findings to the Wayne County prosecutor. The officer's name was not released.

"For this to happen to her, whether they want to call it freak accident or mistake in judgment, it should have never happened to my child, and there's nothing I can do to get her back," McNair told WDIV-TV.

Umm, Hillary, Afghanistan Is Not A Major Ally

To contact us Click HERE
From the Denver Post: The U.S. designation Saturday of Afghanistan as its newest "major non-NATO ally" amounts to a political statement of support for the country's long-term stability and solidifies close defense cooperation after American combat troops withdraw in 2014.
"We see this as a powerful commitment to Afghanistan's future," U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said at a news conference during a brief stop in the Afghan capital. "We are not even imagining abandoning Afghanistan," she said in the grand courtyard of the presidential palace after talks with President Hamid Karzai.
The non-NATO ally declaration allows for streamlined defense cooperation, including expedited purchasing ability of American equipment and easier export control regulations. Afghanistan's military, heavily dependent on American and foreign assistance, already enjoys many of these benefits. The non-NATO ally status guarantees it will continue to do so.

Earlier in the day, the International Security Assistance Force issued a press release announcing the deaths without offering more details, including the nationalities of the slain troops.A total of eight international troops were killed over the weekend, according to ISAF, which was first established by the U.N. Security Council in 2001 to secure Kabul and taken over by NATO two years later. http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/08/world/asia/afghanistan-troops-killed/index.html?hpt=hp_t2And this, also from CNN: A shot rings out, but the burqa-clad woman sitting on the rocky ground does not respond. The man pointing a rifle at her from a few feet away lets loose another round, but still there is no reaction. He fires a third shot, and finally the woman slumps backwards. But the man fires another shot. And another. And another.Nine shots in all.Around him, dozens of men on a hillside cheer: "God is great!"  http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/08/world/asia/afghanistan-public-execution/index.html?hpt=hp_t2Afghanistan is not a major ally.  All Afghanistan is a country that is corrupt, filled with a bunch of Muslims who live in the dark ages, who hate women, gays and would rather use donkeys instead of cars.  The only reason we should be in Afghanistan is to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and attacking the rest of the world.  That's it.  They are not a major ally like Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and other countries that are somewhat civilized. So, to Hillary Clinton, you just equated Afghanistan with actual allies of the United States, which is just pathetic.

Obama Administration Hearts LaRaza In Las Vegas

Eric Holder, Joe Biden, Carlos Munoz-Acevedo, policy adviser for the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Libertie, John Trasvina, assistant secretary for the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Gabriel Sandoval (no relation to Gov. Brian Sandoval) is the senior counsel for the Office on Civil Rights in the Education Department, Monica Ramirez, senior counsel to the deputy attorney general of the U.S. Department of Justice, Housing Secretary Shaun Donovan and Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto all from the Obama administration (except Cortez-Matso) have been or will be in Las Vegas to attend the liberal extremist group, LaRaza convention.
So, who or what  is LaRaza? How radical is La Raza? Being from Arizona, I can tell you La Raza doesn't fly the American flag at pro-amnesty rallies, they fly the Mexican flag.
Behind the respectable front of the National Council of La Raza lies the real agenda of the La Raza movement, the agenda that led to those thousands of illegal immigrants in the streets of American cities, waving Mexican flags, brazenly defying our laws, and demanding concessions.
Key among the secondary organizations is the radical racist group Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA), one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a racist nation out of the American West.

For law-abiding Americans without knowledge of the dark side of our current illegal immigration crisis, all this is unfathomable. For those who know the truth about the "La Raza" movement, these demonstrations were a prophecy fulfilled.

It is past time for all Americans to know what is at the root of this outrageous behavior, and the extent to which the nation is at risk because of "La Raza" -- The Race.

http://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2012/01/10/obama_appoints_la_raza_radical_to_control_domestic_policy
LaRaza is a racist organization that wants open borders to let anybody from any country come to the United states and make them automatic citizens.  They also want to annex the American Southwest to Mexico.
So, it is these racists, lovers of open borders, lovers of illegal immigrants and traitors of the U.S. that Obama is sucking up to.

From the Las Vegas Sun:
A political fight that will undoubtedly tug at the heartstrings of gun-lovers and haters throughout Clark County is about to erupt over plans for a new store on the Las Vegas Strip.
Against the wishes of attorneys for the Venetian and Wynn resorts, operators of the Shoppes at Palazzo mall obtained a use permit for a Beretta gun store and shooting range from the Clark County Planning Commission.
The Palazzo adjoins the Venetian. General Growth Properties, not the Venetian, operates both the malls inside the Palazzo and the Venetian. The Beretta store would occupy about 19,000 square feet of the Shoppes.
During a presentation Tuesday night before the Planning Commission, Fred Kraus, Venetian vice president and general counsel, said putting a gun store inside of a casino is “a tragedy waiting to happen.”
Kraus, who hinted that if Clark County didn’t kill this idea a court battle was likely, said the gun store would be a half-story from a casino and an exit to the Strip.
“They say you can’t buy ammunition but you can take a gun off site,” Kraus said. “Our worst fear is the wrong person takes a gun, has ammunition secreted away outside the place and uses the casino floor as a firing range.”
Kraus also said a gun store/shooting range wasn’t compatible with the other high-end stores in the mall. The Shoppes aren’t known for their bread-and-butter stores or comfort-food restaurants. Bellusso, Canali, Piazza Sempione and Viaggi, to say nothing of Victoria’s Secret, Rare Books and Barneys are some of the stores. You won’t find Pizza Hut or Cane’s there, either.
On the other hand, Greg Borgel, representing the Italian gunmaker, said this store would be one of a handful of high-end Beretta outlets, similar to one on New York City’s Madison Avenue. He said a single Beretta shotgun can sell for as much as $200,000.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/jul/09/nearby-casinos-want-shoot-down-high-end-gun-store-/
As a non-gun owner, I don't have a dog in this fight but common sense says that anybody now can use casino as a shooting range.  Anybody who wants to, can come into a casino and cause havoc with a gun, as happened at the New York New York a few years ago when some nut walked in and started firing, injuring several people.
So, it will be interesting to see how this works out and who gets involved.  The next stop is the Clark County commission, where everyone is a Democrat.

Bread Lounge - Downtown

Awesome new bakery/cafe in Downtown, Los Angeles. I got here around 4:30 pm and most of their pastries were already sold out. I didn't have many choices, but still there were some delicious looking pastries left. I bought two pastries and I was gonna try only half of each pastry and take home some leftovers, but I ended up eating both pastries. I can't wait to go back! and next time, I'm going early morning. The cashier girl was very friendly.

Ricotta cheese danish with white choco patissier, cranberries $3.50

I don't like cheese but you really can't taste cheese on this danish. This danish absolutely made my day. It was really good. Highly recommended.

Grand Opening Orochon Ramen - Burbank

To contact us Click HERE
Orochon Ramen just opened up their second location in Burbank. This place is huge. I came here on Grand Opening day, everything was 50% off. I ordered soy sauce ramen and half fried rice. The total was under $6.  The service was really slow. We also asked for separate checks when we placed our orders, our server brought us one check. I also wish they have half size ramen. I've heard and read so many negative reviews about ramen, so I really didn't wanna full size of bowl. I just wanted to try a small portion of their ramen. Well, at least it was half price.

Dumpling $3.50
Pan fried dumplings stuffed with pork and assorted vegetables. Dumpling was good.

Half fried rice $3.75

The flavor was not bad, but rice was mushy.

Soy sauce ramen (with level 4) $6.95
A soy sauce and pork-based broth served with mushrooms, bell peppers, bamboo, green onions, and pork.

In my opinion, I don't think bell peppers and ramen match together. Also I didn't like the noodle. And I wish they use chasyu, not small pieces of pork. This is more like Chinese noodle soup, not really Japanese style ramen.

Salt Ramen $6.95 + extra tofu $2
A salt and pork-based broth served with mushrooms, bell peppers, bamboo, green onions, and pork.

Cold noodle (Available summer time only) $7.25
I had a bite, it was better than regular ramen. Get this instead of their regular ramen.

#1 A; Hoy Ka Noodle with pork (small) $3.50
Noodle with ground pork, BBQ pork, pork meatballs, pork loaf and liver

This is the most popular item on the menu and it's only $3.50 for small size. Yes, it was small but it's a good way to just try out. Unfortunately, it was not the taste I like. That's just because I'm not familiar with the flavor.

This New York's famous Papaya king opened in Hollywood last year. I know all the foodies were so excited. I was here back in October with 30% off coupon. Unfortunately, there are so many other good hot dog places to go in Los Angeles and this place won't be my choice. Try Skooby's around the corner. The workers were so friendly.
