Papi's Pizzeria - Downtown

I had Scoutmob 50% off so I stopped by here. Since I really didn't wanna get a whole pizza (it's too much just for myself),  I came here to just get some slices. Unfortunately, they only had pepperoni and cheese. They said they usually have more to choose from but because it's been very slow, they only had two types of pizzas. Oh well.. Since I don't like cheese, the only choice was pepperoni, and pepperoni is also not my choice at pizza places. But I gave a try anyway since I was there.

Regular price is $3 plus tax $3.26. After 50% off, it was $2. Now I'm not really sure why it was $2 though but whatever,.

I actually enjoyed my pepperoni pizza. It's thin crust, lots of big pepperoni and some basil on top. And yes, it was cheesy so I had to take off some cheese. Yeah.. I know I'm crazy. But I didn't grow up eating cheese, so I really can't eat that smelly cheese.

Handsome Coffee Roasters - Downtown

To contact us Click HERE
Every coffee lover know Handsome Coffee Roasters. Most of the famous and popular coffee shops are using Handsome's coffee. They know about coffee, they are serious about coffee, and they serve delicious pastries from Proof bakery, which is very popular bakery in L.A. My personal complain about this place is the location. No, I don't like the location. It's not very easy for me to go.

I also read so many negative reviews about people complaining they don't have sugar for the coffee, but I don't use sugar or cream so I didn't have any problems about that. Well, now you know, they don't offer you sugar or cream, so just bring your own.

The menu is simple. Espresso or coffee! But we saw someone ordered latte so I know you can get latte too. They do pretty nice latte art.

Delicious pastries by Proof bakery. I'd go back just for those pastries.

Iced coffee. I rarely drink iced coffee but it was good. It was perfect on the hot summer day in L.A.

Thai style pork and green beans recipe

To contact us Click HERE
I just made this Thai style pork and green beans for my dinner. It was little too spicy for me but that's because I didn't really follow the original recipe. Maybe I needed more meat and veggies. But it's really easy to make at home and it's ready under 10 minutes.

Recipe adapted from Ezy Thai recipes.

Thai style pork and green beans

Sliced pork
Green beans, cut into 2.5cm long (I think I used about 2-3 cups)
Spinach
2 Tbsp red curry paste
2 Tbsp fish sauce
Dash of sugar
Thai basil leaves

1.In a hot wok, add oil and curry paste. Stir fry until aromatic.
2.Add pork and stir fry 3-4 minutes.
3.Add green beans, spinach, fish sauce, sugar, and some water and stir fry 2-3 minutes.
4.Add basil and stir fry for 30 seconds.
5.Garnish with coriander/cilantro leaves (optional).

Stupid CCSD Priorities

Currently, outside in the Henderson, NV area, there is a flash flood warning and a severe thunderstorm warning for Henderson.
The weather radar is full of yellows and reds.
There is lighting and thunder in the area.
And yet they are playing football at Foothill High School with the stands full of band members with metal instruments.
Does anybody have any commonsense at Foothill or CCSD athletics?

Now that's One Hell Of A Hail Storm In Henderson

To contact us Click HERE
This evening, while we were at the Foothill football game to watch one of my kids play in the band, a nasty hailstorm hit our neighborhood, with some areas of our complex getting a nice covering of hail, as seen above.Meanwhile, at the Foothill game, which is located at College and the 95 in Henderson, when we got to the stadium at half time, there was a little bit of lightening in the area.  Then as time went by, the storm got closer and closer and by the time the 4th quarter hit, the lightening and thunder were quite close to the stadium. Then, when with about 2 minutes left, the rain started and when the game ended, it was pouring out and the lightening was directly over the stadium but yet the idiot band director, who had the tubas on the top of the stadium- nice lightening targets, decided that was a good time to play the school fight song.  In the pouring rain.  with lightening and thunder all around.Either the band director ought to be fired or charged with child abuse for putting these kids in danger.  Further, I am quite sure that playing brass and other metal instruments in the rain is also not good for the instruments.  But hey, it's just expensive instruments paid for by the tax payers of Clark County or the instruments are privately owned by the parents in band.As the spectators were leaving the stadium, there was some hail, heavy winds and a severe thunderstorm warning was issued. The game was televised live by Cox cable Channel 12, MyLVTV, for Thursday Night Lights, so was that the reason why the game was still being played in a lightening storm?I don't know who, but many people put the fans, students and athletes were were put in danger.  was it the officials?  School administration?  The cops?  And certainly the band director deserves a lot of blame for making the kids to play a song in a near empty stadium while it is pouring, thundering and lightening outside. But hey, we have big egos to protect and commercial revenue to save.

From Fox News: A masked gunman assassinated a Yemeni security official at the U.S. Embassy in a drive-by shooting in the capital Sanaa on Thursday, officials said.
The Yemeni officials said the killing bore the hallmarks of an Al Qaeda attack, but it was too early to determine if the group was behind it. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
The assassination resembles other attacks targeting Yemeni intelligence, military and security officials in retaliation for a wide military offensive by Yemen's U.S.-backed government against Al Qaeda's branch in the country.
Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which Washington considers the most dangerous offshoot of the terror network, had taken advantage of a security and political vacuum created by last year Arab Spring-inspired uprising and seized territories and cities in the south. The government-led offensive has pushed the militants out to mountainous areas from where they have been staging suicide attacks and assassinations inside cities.
Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/world/2012/10/11/yemen-security-chief-at-us-embassy-killed-in-sanaa/?test=latestnews#ixzz294HKSGL4In less than a month, we have had 5 people killed at 2 different embassy attacks.  That is unacceptable.  If Obama cannot keep the embassies safe then he needs to close down all embassies that have security problems.  This shouldn't be a political issue but a common sense issue.  The U.S. embassies have to be the safest areas of a country, except maybe the country's equivalent to the White House.  But right now, it appears that we have unsafe embassies and the Obama is in over it's head it doesn't seem to know what to do.How many more people will be killed because the Obama administration, including Hillary Clinton, have no clue what they are doing?

Tonight was a debate between Sen. Dean Heller and Rep. Shelly Berkley somewhere in Nevada.  About 10 people watched, besides the media but this interesting tidbit showed up in the Las Vegas Sun:
The TV signal went out twice Thursday night during the Dean Heller-Shelley Berkley debate for U.S. Senate in Nevada.
Thunderstorms caused a power outage that led to the problems in Las Vegas, KTVN Channel 2 in Reno reported.
The signal was lost at least twice.
Channel 2 in Reno was among the Nevada stations carrying the debate. At one point, Channel 2 switched to "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" before returning to the debate.  http://www.rgj.com/article/20121011/NEWS19/121011033/TV-signal-goes-out-during-Heller-Berkley-debate-Nevada?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE&nclick_check=1
Well, Berkley and family are millionaires, helped by her dealings in Congress and the House of Representatives and that her husband is a doctor who is helped out by the federal government.
I'm not sure about Heller, but I am pretty sure that he is working towards being a millionaire as well.
So, it was completely appropriate for these two politicians to be watching "Who Wants To be A Millionaire".

Hoiw They Figure Out The Unemployment Rate

To contact us Click HERE
To be honest, I didn't know this is how they figured out the unemployment rate-
From Jack Welch: Imagine a country where challenging the ruling authorities—questioning, say, a piece of data released by central headquarters—would result in mobs of administration sympathizers claiming you should feel "embarrassed" and labeling you a fool, or worse.
Soviet Russia perhaps? Communist China? Nope, that would be the United States right now, when a person (like me, for instance) suggests that a certain government datum (like the September unemployment rate of 7.8%) doesn't make sense.
Unfortunately for those who would like me to pipe down, the 7.8% unemployment figure released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) last week is downright implausible. And that's why I made a stink about it.....
Let's get real. The unemployment data reported each month are gathered over a one-week period by census workers, by phone in 70% of the cases, and the rest through home visits. In sum, they try to contact 60,000 households, asking a list of questions and recording the responses.
Some questions allow for unambiguous answers, but others less so. For instance, the range for part-time work falls between one hour and 34 hours a week. So, if an out-of-work accountant tells a census worker, "I got one baby-sitting job this week just to cover my kid's bus fare, but I haven't been able to find anything else," that could be recorded as being employed part-time.
The possibility of subjectivity creeping into the process is so pervasive that the BLS's own "Handbook of Methods" has a full page explaining the limitations of its data, including how non-sampling errors get made, from "misinterpretation of the questions" to "errors made in the estimations of missing data."
Bottom line: To suggest that the input to the BLS data-collection system is precise and bias-free is—well, let's just say, overstated....
Meanwhile, we're told in the BLS report that in the months of August and September, federal, state and local governments added 602,000 workers to their payrolls, the largest two-month increase in more than 20 years. And the BLS tells us that, overall, 873,000 workers were added in September, the largest one-month increase since 1983, during the booming Reagan recovery.
These three statistics—the labor-force participation rate, the growth in government workers, and overall job growth, all multidecade records achieved over the past two months—have to raise some eyebrows. There were no economists, liberal or conservative, predicting that unemployment in September would drop below 8%.  http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390444897304578046260406091012.html?mod=WSJ_Opinion_LEADTop
I thought they got the jobless numbers from real numbers, not from surveys.
And it also explains how one can cook the books to make numbers look good, especially after you blew a debate.

This Will Be Fun To Watch

To contact us Click HERE
Thursday night is the vice president candidate's debate and this will be interesting to watch.
First, you have Paul Ryan who is young, charismatic and a policy wonk.
Then you have Vice President Joe Biden.  Old, bombastic and full of gaffe's or unpleasant truth.  Watching him will be like going past an accident scene.  You don't want to watch but, you just have to look.  And Biden is a pit bull in politics.  He's not very smart, but he will go after you and kill you if he is given a chance.
So, it will be interesting to see what happens.  Kind of like the last lap at Talladega in NASCAR.

A Letter From One Of Those Mean 1%er

From Whiskey Tango Foxtrot:
Subject: Message from David Siegel
Date:Mon, 08 Oct 2012 13:58:05 -0400 (EDT)From: [David Siegel]To: [All employees] To All My Valued Employees,As most of you know our company, Westgate Resorts, has continued to succeed in spite of a very dismal economy. There is no question that the economy has changed for the worse and we have not seen any improvement over the past four years. In spite of all of the challenges we have faced, the good news is this: The economy doesn't currently pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job however, is another 4 years of the same Presidential administration. Of course, as your employer, I can't tell you whom to vote for, and I certainly wouldn't interfere with your right to vote for whomever you choose. In fact, I encourage you to vote for whomever you think will serve your interests the best. I started this company over 42 years ago. At that time, I lived in a very modest home. I converted my garage into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you. We didn't eat in fancy restaurants or take expensive vacations because every dollar I made went back into this company. I drove an old used car, and often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business — hard work, discipline, and sacrifice. Meanwhile, many of my friends got regular jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a nice income, and they spent every dime they earned....Now, the economy is falling apart and people like me who made all the right decisions and invested in themselves are being forced to bail out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed 42 years of my life for. Yes, business ownership has its benefits, but the price I've paid is steep and not without wounds. Unfortunately, the costs of running a business have gotten out of control, and let me tell you why: We are being taxed to death and the government thinks we don't pay enough. We pay state taxes, federal taxes, property taxes, sales and use taxes, payroll taxes, workers compensation taxes and unemployment taxes. I even have to hire an entire department to manage all these taxes. The question I have is this: Who is really stimulating the economy? Is it the Government that wants to take money from those who have earned it and give it to those who have not, or is it people like me who built a company out of his garage and directly employs over 7000 people and hosts over 3 million people per year with a great vacation? Obviously, our present government believes that taking my money is the right economic stimulus for this country. The fact is, if I deducted 50 percent of your paycheck you'd quit and you wouldn't work here. I mean, why should you? Who wants to get rewarded only 50 percent of their hard work? Well, that's what happens to me.... You see, I can no longer support a system that penalizes the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, so will your opportunities. If that happens, you can find me in the Caribbean sitting on the beach, under a palm tree, retired, and with no employees to worry about. Signed, your boss,David Siegel http://chrisfromracine.blogspot.com/2012/10/a-letter-from-ceo.htmlMost liberals have no clue on how to run a business and with Clown in Chief running the country, it makes things even worse. While this letter may seem extreme, I am willing there are hundreds of other small business owners who feel the same way. Hopefully, Romney will win and so his employees will continue to work.

Religious E-Mails Cost Firefighter His Job

To contact us Click HERE
From Firehouse.com: The Spokane Valley Fire Department on Monday fired a captain who continued to send religious emails from his department email account despite numerous orders to stop.
Capt. Jon Sprague, who runs the Spokane County Christian Firefighter Fellowship, has been disciplined several times for sending the emails. This year, he received a letter of counseling, a letter of reprimand and a second letter of reprimand with a suspension of two 24-hour shifts without pay before the Spokane Valley Board of Fire Commissioners voted unanimously to fire him.
Sprague sends out emails using the taxpayer-funded agency's email system to a group of firefighters who have agreed to receive the notices. They contain information about upcoming meetings and events of a Christian fellowship group. He has emphasized that he is not proselytizing and said he believes sending the emails is his First Amendment right.
McMahon called Sprague an "excellent firefighter" and a "good human being."
In a prepared statement read to commissioners, Sprague defended his right to send the emails to fellow firefighters who agreed to receive them. "Their content has not violated a single rule of this department," he said.
Sprague closed his comments by saying "In God we Trust." The standing-room-only crowd of firefighters who attended the meeting to support Sprague burst into applause when he finished.
Commissioner Joe Dawson said the issue is that Sprague has repeatedly refused to follow the order to stop sending the emails."This certainly doesn't bring us any pleasure," Commissioner Kolby Hanson said. "Certainly there's no joy in doing this." After the vote, Sprague shook the hand of each commissioner before receiving a series of handshakes and hugs from his fellow firefighters.
Sprague said he hasn't decided whether he will appeal the decision through the Civil Service Commission or file a grievance through the union. He said an investigation is being conducted by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which enforces federal laws banning discrimination.  http://www.firehouse.com/news/10812386/religious-emails-cost-wash-fire-captain-his-job
All i can say is that I hope this fire department never allows any kind of e-mail other than e-mails that directly relate to firefighting, otherwie the fire department will lose big time in court.

Cockroach Eating Contest Kills Man

To contact us Click HERE
From the Chicago Tribune:
A feast of cockroaches and worms was the last meal for the winner of a bug-eating contest.
Edward Archbold, a 32-year-old West Palm Beach man, was "the life of the party," stuffing handfuls of insects into his mouth with about 30 other contestants vying for the grand prize of a python at the Ben Siegel Reptile Store, Broward Sheriff's investigators said.
Shortly after the contest was over, Archbold wasn't feeling well and began to regurgitate. He collapsed outside the store and later died at a hospital, investigators said.
"They're all captive bred bugs. They're bred in sterile conditions," said Ben Siegel, owner of the store at 3314 W. Hillsboro Blvd. "They're not bugs we go catch. They're bred for exotic pet feed and they're completely safe."
Siegel called 911 and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue took Archbold to Broward Health North Medical Center where he was pronounced dead about 11:40 p.m. Friday.
None of the other contestants showed any signs of illness after the contest, Siegel said.
"Everybody was fine," Siegel said. "Eddie was a super nice guy. Everyone here liked him. He was outgoing. He was the life of the party."
Archbold's body was taken to the Broward Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Attorney Luke Lirot, who represents Siegel, released a statement that read, in part:
"All participants in the contest were entirely aware of what they were doing and that they signed thorough waivers accepting responsibility for their participation in this unique and unorthodox contest."  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/fl-deerfield-roach-eating-death-20121008,0,5588984.story
I wouldn't mind being in a pie, pancake, cake, shrimp, lobster or steak eating contest.  But a cockroach eating contest.  No thnaks.

Obama Losing Grip On Anti-War Protestors

To contact us Click HERE
When President Obama was elected in 2008, miraculously, all the anti-war protest just stopped, like someone turned off the spigot.  And for the next 3 1/2 years, we have rarely heard of any anti-war protests until now.
From the San Francisco Chronicle:   Oakland police admitted Monday they were caught off guard by a fast-moving group of vandals who tore through the city's downtown center and were gone before shorthanded authorities could organize a response.
The masked vandals dressed in black splintered off from an antiwar protest march Sunday night and wreaked havoc, smashing windows, lobbing paint bombs, and spray-painting graffiti on storefronts.
And then they walked away.
The all-too-familiar sequence left city officials, residents and business leaders frustrated - yet again - by the violent attacks on the city's civic and business center.
Police said they didn't see it coming as what began as an antiwar protest of 30 to 40 people suddenly grew to between 200 and 300 people with varying agendas and motives.
Police were staffed at regular patrol levels when they received reports of smaller groups breaking off from the larger march to break windows, damage parked vehicles and smash glass storefronts along 20th Street near Broadway. Vandals also shattered windows at City Hall and the Oakland police internal affairs and recruiting office in Frank Ogawa Plaza.
Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/Oakland-antiwar-protesters-wreak-havoc-3928164.php#ixzz28m9QXuozOf course, this being the Bay area, you had other protestors protesting that the sky is blue and the sun sets in the West. But now, at least in Oakland, it seems like the extreme left is finally sick of Obama and his promises made to liberals about the war.About damn time.

Why Aren't The Liberals Protesting High Gas Prices?

To contact us Click HERE
Remember when George Bush was president and we had some gas prices that got up to around $3 a gallon.
Yeah, I remember- Blood for oil was a favorite line the left used.
Now that we have record gas prices, where are the left's protests?  Why haven't they complained that the gas prices are hurting the poor and middle income?  Hell, they aren't even complaining about the profits of the oil companies, that were supposedly obscene under Bush.
Why the silence, liberals?

If Obama Is A Great constitutional Lawyer, Why Does He Break The Law?

To contact us Click HERE
From Michael Barrone:"The Illegal-Donor Loophole" is the headline of a Daily Beast story by Peter Schweizer of the conservative Government Accountability Institute and Peter Boyer, former reporter at the New Yorker and the New York Times.
The article tells how Obama.com, a website owned by an Obama fundraiser who lives in China but has visited the Obama White House 11 times, sends solicitations mostly to foreign email addresses and links to the Obama campaign website's donation page.
The Obama website, unlike those of most campaigns, doesn't ask for the three- or four-digit credit card verification number. That makes it easier for donors to use fictitious names and addresses to send money in....
The campaign, as my former boss pollster Peter Hart likes to say, always reflects the candidate. A campaign willing to skirt the law or abet violations of it reflects a candidate who, as president, has been doing the same thing.
Examples abound. Take the WARN Act, which requires employers to give a 60-day notice of layoffs. It was sponsored and passed by Democrats.
The WARN Act requires defense contractors to give notice on Nov. 2 of layoffs that will be necessary on Jan. 3 when the sequestration law requires big cutbacks in defense spending.
The administration has asked companies not to send out the notices. And it has promised to pay companies' WARN Act fines. Why the solicitude? The warnings could cost Obama Virginia's 13 electoral votes....
Or consider the welfare waivers that HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius gives to states that want to relax work requirements. Democratic blogger Mickey Kaus makes a strong case that this violates clear language in the welfare reform act signed by Bill Clinton in 1996.
If Kaus is right, Sebelius and Obama are brazenly rewriting the law -- one of the most successful reforms of the last two decades.....
Then there's Obama's promise not to deport young illegal immigrants brought into the U.S. as children who meet certain conditions -- like going to college or serving in the military.
It's a policy that tests well in the polls. The problem is that Congress, even when controlled by Democrats, refused to relax immigration policy in this way.....
Article II of the Constitution (not Article I, as Joe Biden appeared to say in the 2008 vice presidential debate) sets out the duties and powers of the president. Section 3 states that "he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed."
It does not give him the power to make laws. That's given to Congress, in Article I.
Barack Obama was a lecturer in constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School. But he seems to take the attitude familiar to me, as an alumnus of Yale Law School, that the law is simply a bunch of words which people who are clever with words can manipulate to get any result they want.
In public speeches he has defended such policies by shouting, "We can't wait!" The results are good, or at least politically convenient, so why be held back by a few words written on paper?
The Constitution was written by men who had a different idea. They wanted a government bound by the rule of law. Do we?  http://washingtonexaminer.com/a-lawyer-by-training-obama-ignores-rules-of-law/article/2510269#.UHUNuK48VXs
You can say many things about George Bush, but at least he respected the office of the presidency.  Obama does not and his actions to this day shows, he couldn't care less about the rule of law or show respect to the American people.

From the Washington Examiner:
Fully implementing Obamacare regulations have already cost the U.S. economy $27.6 billion and more than 18,000 jobs according to a new study released today. Just the top ten most expensive regulations have cost $24.4 billion, according to the new non-partisan and independent American Action Forum (AAF) report.
Just complying with the state health exchanges alone has to cost employers $3.4 billion according to the AAF totals which were compiled from Federal Register data. In addition to the regulatory costs, AAF estimates that Obamacare regulatory compliance has eaten up more than 60 million hours in paperwork. At 2,000 hours a year that comes to 30,000 jobs.
The AAF paper also calculated the regulatory costs and job losses in each state for the top ten must expensive Obamacare regulations. California has borne the brunt of Obamacare’s costs suffering $3.4 billion in costs and 2,917 jobs lost. Texas has been hit second hardest with $1.8 billion in costs and 1,292 jobs lost.  http://washingtonexaminer.com/study-obamacare-regs-have-cost-27.6-billion-killed-30000-jobs/article/2510234#.UHUObq48VXs

Stupid Criminal News

From the New York Daily  News: Burglary is generally a poor life choice — and even less advisable when authorities have a global tracking device strapped to your ankle.
Still, registered sex offender Wilbert Matheney, 48, staged a recent home invasion robbery in Southern California wearing a court-ordered ankle monitor and the long salt-and-pepper hairdo that made him a famous figure in his upscale Sylmar neighborhood, police said.
He was arrested Thursday and booked for residential burglary with no bail due to his post-conviction conditions and status as a sex registrant, police said.
"I think this is one of those situations where the community knew he was someone to be concerned about and kept an eye out. They fingered him pretty quickly," Los Angeles Police Det. William Cooper told the Daily News.
"He denied it at first. He still denied it after learning we had pictures of it going off at the location. He claims it's a mistake," Det. Cooper said.
According to cops, Matheney entered the residence at 6 p.m. the evening of Aug. 30 while two residents — a 90-year-old man and 48-year-old woman — were relaxing at home.
The female roommate told police she encountered a suspect with salt-and-pepper hair who ran from the house with a laptop computer.
She told officers she recognized the burglar as a man who helped her with an electrical problem a week prior.

Kid Rock helps VP hopeful Ryan, risks irking fans
Kid Rock hasn't been shy about supporting Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan, even if it costs him some fans.
The made-in-Michigan rock musician introduced Ryan during a rally Monday night in the Detroit suburb of Rochester.
The rapper, born Robert Ritchie, told the raucous crowd gathered at Oakland University that he believes "you have to stand for something" even if it may alienate a few fans.
Rock added that it was OK to disagree, particularly in a music business that he says "leans very left."
He quieted the crowd a bit when he shared his pride over the election of Barack Obama as the first black president. But he quickly added he was sorry Obama "didn't do a better job."    http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_21728459/kid-rock-helps-vp-hopeful-ryan-risks-irking
I wonder if the media say the same thing about Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Browne?

Denver Post: Obama Is Playing Politics With WARN

To contact us Click HERE
From the Denver Post:
The law on layoffs by defense contractors seems pretty straightforward.
The federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act requires advance notice of impending layoffs.
While the letter of the law may be clear, the politics surrounding it have become unfortunately complicated by a heated presidential campaign.
The Obama administration must stop its meddling in an effort to restrain potentially unfavorable defense contractor layoff news just before the presidential election.
The catalyst for this episode is the so-called fiscal cliff — the automatic federal budget cuts scheduled to begin Jan. 2.
It's important to note the automatic cuts were cemented into law by the inability of a bipartisan congressional committee to come to terms on a deficit reduction plan.
So, here it comes — $500 billion in defense cuts and another $500 billion in reductions to domestic programs....
Here is the Obama administration meddling part: On Sept. 28, the White House Office of Management and Budget issued guidance, urging contractors not to send the notices and saying the government would cover the cost of defense layoffs if they happened as a result of sequestration.
In essence, the administration was attempting to keep an election-eve flood of worrisome notices from being dumped on states heavily dependent on defense contracting, such as Virginia. That's wrong.
Republicans, understandably, were outraged, but Democrats should be as well. And we all should be disgusted by lawmakers so paralyzed by ideology that they cannot compromise in the name of the nation's fiscal future.

Read more: Editorial: Wrong way on WARN notices - The Denver Post http://www.denverpost.com/opinion/ci_21709080/editorial-wrong-way-warn-notices#ixzz28mHaQdAZObama is telling these defense companies to break the law and then telling them that the U.S. taxpayer will pay them for breaking the law.  Further, while the Obama administration may promise the money, there is no guarantee the government will even pay- for instance, where is Obama going to get the money to pay these companies to break the law?Comrade/Dictator Obama: just another Chicago street thug.

Culinary Union Thugs At It Again

From the LVRJ: Downtown Las Vegas boosters are worried that a day planned to showcase local businesses could turn into a showdown between union workers and casinos on historic Fremont Street.
Members of Culinary Local 226, which represents about 60,000 workers, plan 10 hours of picketing Saturday that will coincide with Rediscover Downtown, a highly publicized attempt by downtown businesses to attract new visitors to the burgeoning area.
"People don't want to go where there is a perception of conflict, maybe a picketing is perceived as not really very friendly," said Rich Worthington, chairman of the Downtown Las Vegas Alliance, an organization for downtown businesses that's producing Rediscover Downtown Day.
It's a daylong event that starts at 7 a.m. with the Las Vegas Heart Walk and continues through the day with businesses offering discounts and incentives to customers aimed at attracting more people downtown.
The picketing is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Worthington was joined Monday by Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, who said longtime Culinary Secretary-Treasurer D Taylor shouldn't picket during the promotional event.  http://www.lvrj.com/news/city-leaders-fear-union-pickets-will-ruin-downtown-celebration-173220061.html
The Culinary Union is just a bunch of crybabies who scream out because they don't get their way.   The Culinary Union really doesn't care about the people they represent- the union leaders just want the union dues to line their pockets and continue to live their lavish lifestyle.
And because they don't their way, they throw childish temper tantrums that people at risk, like picketing and closing down streets that end up with police have to arrest these thugs.
They also try to throw their big fat bellies around by disrupting people just out eating their lunch and now they want to disrupt a celebration that has nothing to do with the Culinary thugs.
Some times, I just with the cops in this town would go Rodney King over these these thugs.
