Remember President Obama saying he was going to cut Medicare?
Well, it has consequences and 50 people in Madison, WI. are losing their jobs because of it.
From Madison.com: About 50 employees at Meriter Health Services are losing their jobs, others will see their hours reduced, and some vacant positions are being eliminated, Meriter announced Tuesday.
A total of 140 full-time positions are being cut, Meriter CEO Jim Woodward said in an email to employees.
The cuts, expected to save about $9 million, are needed because of reductions in Medicare payments beginning in January, Meriter spokeswoman Mary Reinke said.
The changes affect less than 4 percent of Meriter's 3,500 employees, Reinke said.
About 50 people are losing their jobs or likely will decline other positions, she said. Half are managers, some are involved in patient care, and some are in unions, she said.
Meriter will continue pay and benefits until the end of the year for those losing jobs, she said.
Woodward said Wisconsin hospitals will see Medicare payment reductions of $3.6 billion beginning in January. Reinke said Meriter will face a reduction of $7 million to $8 million.
In June, the Wisconsin Hospital Association said that the 2010 health care reform law is bringing $2.6 billion in Medicare cuts through 2019. Reinke said the additional $1 billion is if Washington doesn't prevent the fiscal cliff.

ObamaCare, you just gotta love it, hey liberals?
Killing jobs here.
Killing jobs there.
Killing jobs everywhere.

Flooding Coming To Western Nevada?

To contact us Click HERE
From the Reno Gazette Journal: With a pair of drenching rainstorms barreling toward the region, experts warned Thursday of the potential of serious flooding along the Truckee River in Reno-Sparks come Sunday.
Forecasts varied in severity throughout the day, but it’s clear that some level of potentially damaging flooding is possible Sunday in the Sparks Industrial Area, downtown Reno, Lockwood, Wadsworth and other flood-vulnerable areas.
“The way it’s shaping up right now, it’s a big one,” said Gary Barbato, a hydrologist with the National Weather Service in Reno.
Serious flooding hazards are also anticipated along small creeks and streams west of U.S. 395 through Reno and Carson City and at Lake Tahoe. Mud- and rockslides are possible in steep terrain and in areas burned by wildfires.Forecasts issued Thursday night by California-Nevada River Forecast Center said the Truckee River at Vista Boulevard could peak at just over 19 feet about 6 p.m. Sunday, 4 feet above flood stage and at sufficiently serious levels to submerge parts of the Sparks Industrial Area in 4 feet of water.   http://www.rgj.com/article/20121129/NEWS15/121129013/Storms-threaten-damaging-floods-Reno-Sparks-area?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE\
I bet they are wishing it would be snow instead of rain, especially the ski resorts.
Good luck to them and hope the weather people are wrong... again.

The Obama Economy: Many More People On Food Stamps

To contact us Click HERE
From the Washington Examiner: The number of Montgomery County and Prince George's County residents on food stamps has more than doubled since fiscal 2008, reflecting a statewide trend since the recession started, data show.
Food stamp recipients also doubled in Fairfax County, and are up in Virginia by 73 percent and in the District by 59 percent, in the same time period.
In Montgomery County, 6.5 percent of 990,000 residents are on food stamps, and in Prince George's County, 11 percent of 871,000 residents. In all, roughly 13 percent of Maryland's 5.8 million residents are on food stamps.
In Virginia, 11 percent of 8.1 million residents are on food stamps. Of Fairfax County's 1.1 million residents, 4.5 percent are on food stamps, while 22 percent of the District's 618,000 residents receive food stamps.
The growth is being caused by the recession on top of new rules under the federal stimulus package that made qualifying for benefits easier and allowed recipients to stay on the program longer. http://washingtonexaminer.com/food-stamp-enrollment-doubles-in-area-since-recession/article/2514747#.ULhOfWc8VXs
The Obama Economy and easier ways to qualify takes more money out of the pockets of taxpayers (and loans from the Chinese and others) into the hands of people who may or may not need the Food Stamps.
In 4 years, I wonder how many of these people will be off of  Food Stamps and other welfare or will they be addicted to the free hand outs?  My guess, is that more often than not, most of these people will still be on the Food Stamps.

Obama Administration Fires 30 Oyster Farmers

But it's for the oysters.
From the San Fran Chronicle: U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar told a popular oyster farm at Drakes Bay on Thursday to pack up and leave, effectively ending more than a century of shellfish harvesting on the picturesque inlet where Europeans first set foot in California.
Salazar's decision ends a long-running dispute between the Drakes Bay Oyster Co. and the National Park Service over the estuary at Point Reyes National Seashore where Sir Francis Drake landed more than 400 years ago.
The National Park Service intends to turn the 2,700-acre area into the first federally designated marine wilderness area on the West Coast, giving the estuary special protected status as an unaltered ecological region. To do that, Salazar rejected the oyster company's proposal to extend its 40-year lease to harvest shellfish on 1,100 acres of the property….
Salazar had the option to extend the lease for 10 years after Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., included the provision in a rider on an appropriations bill….
Kevin Lunny, a local rancher who bought the shellfish operation from Johnson Oyster Co. in 2004, said he was shocked when he got a call directly from Salazar on Thursday morning telling him that the 40-year occupancy agreement would not be renewed.
"It's disbelief and excruciating sorrow," he said of the mood at the oyster farm, where 30 people are employed, including seven families that live on the property.
"There are 30 people, all in tears this morning, who are going to lose their jobs and their homes," Lunny said. "They are experts in seafood handling and processing in the last oyster cannery in California, and there is nowhere for them to go."
  http://www.sfgate.com/science/article/U-S-evicting-Point-Reyes-oyster-farmer-4077624.php
Even liberal CA. Senator, Dianne Feinstein is pissed:  "I am extremely disappointed," Feinstein said Thursday in a statement. "The National Park Service's review process has been flawed from the beginning with false and misleading science, which was also used in the Environmental Impact Statement. The secretary's decision effectively puts this historic California oyster farm out of business. As a result, the farm will be forced to cease operations and 30 Californians will lose their jobs."
But, hey, it's just 30 jobs.  The Obama administration puts that many people out of work every hour, it seems.

That's Right, Blame The 11 Year Old Girl For Rape

Was This Their Attorney? (No, But...)
From the Houston Chronicle: Liberty County prosecutors described Jared Len Cruse as one of a "pack of dogs" who gang-raped an 11-year-old Cleveland girl, while the defense likened the girl to a "spider" who lured men into her web.

During opening remarks and the questioning of the young girl, Taylor stressed how she never shed a tear nor voiced a single complaint about her sexual encounters with any of the 20 males accused of assaulting her two years ago.
The girl, whose name was withheld because she is a juvenile, answered "yes, sir" when Taylor asked if she had been a "willing participant." She also acknowledged never making an outcry until questioned by authorities after graphic sex tapes of her encounters surfaced at Cleveland High School.  http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Prosecutor-calls-defendant-in-gang-rape-one-of-4071150.php
And then you wonder why defense lawyers are thought to be scum of the earth.
The defense attorney blaming an 11 year old for the gang rape in which she was a victim is just as disgusting as the thug defendants who did this to her.
The only saving grace is that if these thugs are convicted, they will have a very bad time in prison as child molesters are considered scum and the thugs tend to be treated horribly by other prisoners.

Bad Man, Bad Law

From Fox News: A northeast Ohio man accused of making fun of a young girl with cerebral palsy has been sentenced to a month in jail.
Canton Municipal Judge John A. Poulos ordered the maximum sentence for 43-year-old William Bailey, who pleaded no contest Tuesday to reduced misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and aggravated menacing.
The (Canton) Repository reports that Bailey was caught on cellphone video at a school bus stop in October making fun of how the 10-year-old disabled girl walks. The video of him seemingly imitating her limp was disseminated online and on local TV news. Bailey denied he was mocking the girl, saying he was reacting to name-calling directed at his 9-year-old son.
The video was shot in October by Hope Holocomb's grandmother at a bus stop, and shows what appears to be both Bailey and his son each walking with a pronounced limp.
Bailey, for his part, declined to talk on camera, but at the time told The New York Daily News that he was injured on the job and was suffering from bruised ribs and twisted back when the video was shot.
His wife told Fox8.com that this is all part of an ongoing dispute and that Hope's family has called her son names.

What this guy did was horrible to the little girl, but to call it a crime for mocking someone?
I work with kids who are severely disabled and I also work in a high school.  The students I work with are not harassed but let's face it, there probably isn't a kid in high school who hasn't been teased or mocked.  Do we send all the kids who tease another kid to jail?  And then, do we extend that to adults?
Yes, the guy is an idiot and if he did that to one of my students, I'd be pissed, but I wouldn't call the cops in the hopes of sending the thug to jail.
Where do we draw the line?  Will i be sent to jail for calling Harry Reid a coward, being senile or a crybaby?  Can I send someone to jail for mocking me?  Can I send someone to jail for someone who mocks one of my kids?
I have little sympathy for the thug- he will get this in the end but I don't think it is a crime to mock someone, unless it causes some kind of physical harm, like an assault.

Thanks To The Obama Economy, Time For A Second Job...Again

A couple weeks ago, it became all to apparent that my finances suck.  Living on a teacher's salary and with two kids and a wife, the paychecks just were not making it- they were pretty much spent two day after I was paid.
From a lower paycheck, mainly from increased health insurance costs- thanks ObamaCare and much, much higher living costs conspired to doom me.
Of course, I can cut down on some of my expenses- no cell phone and no Internet/cable TV are the two biggest expenses we have, other than rent and electricity in the summer time.  But I do need a phone and if I didn't have the Internet, I would be able to write this blog or find out what is going on in the world.  It would have been nice if my ex-wife would have taken responsibility and either paid child support for the kids or take the kids 3 days a week as required by law, but she does neither.  But it is what it is and I love the kids, so I will do what it takes to raise them as best as I can.
But my mandatory expenses have skyrocketed in the past couple of years.  Gas for the car has doubled, food expenses have at least doubled, utilities, especially electricity have almost tripled, school expenses for the kids are out of this world and my miscellaneous expenses have also gone up.  Some of my expenses have gone down- my entertainment expenses are almost $0, going out to eat is almost non-existent and even my beer expenses have gone down(oh, the humanity)  Finally, I have to be prepared in case the Obama Tax Hikes go into effect starting in January.  If the Obama Tax Hikes go into effect in January, I'll be losing at least $150 a school paycheck to the Federal government.
So, 3-4 days a week, I will be working at an evil Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market store, mostly being a cashier.  I've worked at previously at Wal-Mart, as a stocker, so this will be a new experience as a cashier.  Just seeing all those happy and smiley faces of the customers will certainly make my day.
I learned a lot when I worked at Wal-Mart- mostly, that it is not an evil giant slave shop that the UFCW union thugs says it is.  If you do your job, you will succeed and the benefits the employees get are actually very good, compared to other large private sector employees.  I'm looking forward to my employee discount card and Wal-Mart stock sharing options.
So, starting next week, if the blog posts don't come as often, you will know why.  So, next time you see President Obama, please thank him for me for me having to work 2 jobs because I will be too busy working the jobs to pay for the Obama Economy we are in.

Conservative: Raise Taxes On Middle Class

To contact us Click HERE
Seems logical and I am sure most Democrats would agree:
From the Washington Examiner:
In an apparent bid to outflank the left the tax and deficit issue, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute has called for a tax increase on the middle class — yes, something not even the most liberal Democrats have called for. This is all the more startling since AEI is a conservative, free-market think tank. Its list of scholars is a who’s who of right-leaning policy intellectuals.
That case for the tax hike is made by AEI resident scholar Sita Nataraj Slavov in the think tank’s online magazine, The American. Like Willie Sutton, Slavov’s thinking is that you have got to go where the money is. And that’s not the richest 1 or 2 percent:...
Throughout the recent presidential election campaign, we heard President Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney blast one another for allegedly wanting to raise taxes on the middle class, which they defined as households making less than $200,000 per year. And we heard each candidate repeatedly promise not to do so. One of the only things the two candidates appeared to agree on was that raising taxes on the middle class is a bad idea.
That might be true if you’re trying to be elected president. But from a tax policy perspective, raising taxes on the middle class is a terrific idea.
Raising taxes on the middle class is a necessity given the enormous fiscal gap facing our country. While that gap will have to be closed primarily by cutting entitlement spending, increased revenue will also need to be part of the solution. And it won’t be possible to get all of the money necessary from those making more than $200,000 per year. As Alan Viard, my colleague at the American Enterprise Institute, has documented, observers across the political spectrum have recognized that tax increases on the top 2 or 3 percent won’t be enough to close the fiscal gap.  http://washingtonexaminer.com/conservative-think-tank-scholar-raise-taxes-on-the-middle-class/article/2514493#.ULWfbmc8VXs
If the liberals are true to their word and want to lower the deficit by raising taxes on the rich, then, logically, if you tax the middle class higher, then you would really make a dent in the deficit.
But the liberals are not interested in sound fiscal policy- they just want to tax the rich because the liberals are jealous of people who have money.  They want to punish the rich for being successful and they want to steal their money away.
So, if the liberals really want to lower the deficit and not cut spending, then raise the taxes on the middle class and rich.
And the GOP is for raising the middle class taxes, then let the fiscal cliff perish and we would accomplish everything- higher taxes and a large cut in spending.
Of course, if they just cut the wasteful spending in the Federal government, no one's taxes should be raised.

An Illinois Senator Speaking Common Sense- If You Believe Him

From the Chicago Tribune: A top Democrat pressured fellow progressives Tuesday to support – rather than fight – a far-reaching budget deal that includes cuts to entitlement programs after resolving  the upcoming fiscal cliff.
“We can't be so naive to believe that just taxing the rich will solve our problems,” said Sen. Richard Durbin of Illinois, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate. “Put everything on the table. Repeat. Everything on the table.”
The assistant majority leader’s speech at the influential Center for American Progress comes at a pivotal moment in budget talks between the White House and Congress. Progressive and labor groups have warned President Obama against cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and other government programs and to instead focus on raising tax revenue in the administration’s negotiations with congressional Republicans.
In remarks that strayed from his prepared comments, Durbin told the story of a labor leader who questioned his interest in serving on that 2010 panel, asking, “What is a nice progressive like you doing in a place like that?”
Durbin responded by saying it was better to have a seat at the table, a position he reiterated as he tried to prevent a schism among Democrats’ traditional allies while talks continue toward the year-end deadline.
“Progressives cannot afford to stand on the sidelines in this fiscal debate and deny the obvious,” Durbin said.
Already, a coalition of liberal groups is running ads warning Obama against striking a deal with Republicans that would slash social safety net programs while allowing tax breaks for wealthier households to continue.  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-durbin-urges-progressives-to-back-entitlement-cuts-in-fiscal-cliff-deal-20121127,0,3123621.story
Durbin is talking the talk but can you trust an Illinois politician and trust him to keep his word?
Me either.

A British man has become the first person to visit all 201 countries in the world without ever setting foot on an airplane.
“I love travel, and I guess my reason for doing it was I wanted to see if this could be done by one person traveling on a shoestring,” Graham Hughes, who lived on just $100 a week during the trip, told the Christian Science Monitor.
The 33-year-old marked the end of his four-year, 160,000-mile journey in South Sudan, the world’s newest nation, on Monday.
“The main feeling today is just one of intense gratitude to every person around the world who helped me get here by giving me a lift, letting me stay on their couch or pointing me in the right direction,” he said.
It took Hughes 1,456 days to complete the epic, low-cost odyssey, which the adventurer filmed to raise money for the charity WaterAid, which works to provide safe water and sanitation in Africa, Asia and Central America.

NASA announced Monday that Kelly, 48, will man an expedition in spring 2015 for one year at the International Space Station with Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko, 52.
Kelly, a native of West Orange, N.J., is the twin brother of Mark Kelly, himself a retired astronaut and the husband of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. She stepped down last year after surviving a deadly shooting rampage outside of a Tucson grocery store in 2011.
NASA officials said Kelly and Kornienko will conduct research to help scientists better understand how space affects the human body.

Darwin Award Nominee?
From the Orlando Sentinel: A West Palm Beach man who collapsed after a cockroach-eating contest last month choked to death on bug parts and his own vomit, the Broward County Medical Examiner ruled Monday.
Edward Archbold, 32, a canvas worker, had stuffed handfuls of roaches and worms down his throat during an Oct. 5 contest at the Ben Siegel Reptile Store in Deerfield Beach.
Shortly after winning the prize, an expensive ivory ball python, Archbold began to retch violently and collapsed outside the store. He later died at Broward Health North Medical Center. None of the other contestants became ill, Ben Siegel said.
Medical Examiner Dr. Craig Mallak determined Archbold "died as a result of asphyxia due to choking and aspiration of gastric contents."
Mallak further cited "findings of airway obstruction by the arthropod body parts." Cockroaches are members of the arthropod family.
Mallak's report noted there were no "lethal intoxicating substances" in Archbold's system. He classified the death as an accident.  http://www.orlandosentinel.com/fl-bug-eating-contest-autopsy-20121126,0,5939707.story

2013 Baseball Hall Of Fame Nominees: Year Of Steroids?

To contact us Click HERE
The baseball writers have many players to choose from for the 2013 Baseball Hall of Fame Class.  Among others are:
Jack Morris
Jeff Bagwell
Lee Smith
Don Mattingly
 Mike Piazza
Curt Schilling
Craig Biggiao.
Then you have some players who have had some serious problems with steroids or others with ethical problems but great careers:
Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Sammy Sosa
Mark McGwire
If steroids were not involved with McGwire, Bonds, Clemens and Sosa, it would be a no brainer that they belong in the Hall of Fame.
But because they were accused of using steroids, a legal substance that was not banned when they were playing, they may not get into the Hall of Fame.
The argument for them getting into the HOF is that it still takes talent to hit a baseball that is thrown 100 mph and dancing all the way into the catcher's mitt and they still had to field the baseball, when out playing defense (unless they were a designated hitter).  The players also played for a long time and had productive careers.
The argument against them getting them into the HOF: Steroids and they cheated their way through their careers and they were able to extend their playing time because of steroids.
So, should Bonds, McGwire, Sosa and Clemens be voted in to the Hall of Fame?  You make the call on the poll.

Where To Buy Powerball Lottery Tickets If You Are In Las Vegas

To contact us Click HERE

Even though Nevada and Las Vegas is the gambling capitol of the country/world, you cannot buy lottery tickets in Nevada.
But you can buy lottery tickets if you are willing to travel.
Of course, you can go down to Primm, on the California/Nevada border, on the I-15, but if you go there, plan on waiting at least a couple of hors or more in line.
However, if you travel south on Hwy 93, out of Henderson, through Boulder City and by the Hoover Dam and into Arizona, you can buy some tickets and not wait in a long line.
The first stop is at the Las Stop store/restaurant, around mile marker 30 or or.  It's a little tourist trap store but they sell lottery tickets but my guess is that since this is the first place in Arizona, it will be crowded this coming week.  We waited in line for less than 10 minutes to buy some tickets today, which isn't too bad.
Then, if the line is to crowded, you can go down the road another 15 miles or so, to Dolan Springs, which is about 50 miles from Henderson, and you can buy lottery tickets at several locations.  I'm sure the lines there will be quite small there.
Finally, if you feel adventurous, take Hwy 95 and go to Kingman or Lake Havasu City and you will find plenty of places to sell the lottery tickets.

Stupid Ass Democrats

From The Hill:  The Obama administration faces major logistical and financial challenges in creating health insurance exchanges for states that have declined to set up their own systems.
The exchanges were designed as the centerpiece of President Obama’s signature law, and are intended to make buying health insurance comparable to booking a flight or finding a compatible partner on Match.com.

Sixteen states — most of them governed by Republicans — have said they will not set up their own systems, forcing the federal government to come up with one instead. Another five states said they want a federal-state partnership, while four others are considering partnerships.
It's a situation no one anticipated when the Affordable Care Act was written. The law assumed states would create and operate their own exchanges, and set aside billions in grants for that purpose.http://thehill.com/blogs/healthwatch/health-reform-implementation/269137-obama-faces-huge-challenge-in-setting-up-health-exchanges
Just another reason why ObamaCare ought to be scrapped and gotten rid of.
And these stupid ass Democrats like Obama, Crybaby/Coward/Senile Harry Reid, Dina "The Thief" Titus and Shelly Berkley didn't think this was a possibility?
What a bunch of brain dead morons.

Fired Colorado Football Coach Alleges Racism

To contact us Click HERE
From the Denver Post: Jon Embree is out at as Colorado football coach after just two seasons. The Buffs were 4-21 in Embree's two seasons and this past season went 1-11, the worst year in Colorado football history.
Embree, who thought his job was safe, was informed late Sunday afternoon by Colorado athletic director Mike Bohn that he was fired.
"I'm disappointed. I'd like to get more of an opportunity but life ain't fair," Embree said in a phone interview.
Asked what Bohn told him, Embree said, "He said he didn't feel the trajectory was going in the right direction. I said what direction was it going when I got hired?"
Embree inherited a program that had five consecutive losing seasons under former coach Dan Hawkins. He didn't believe two years was enough time to prove he could do the job.
Embree said he also told Bohn that as an African-American coach, few head coaching opportunities are offered, and all too often are quickly taken away.
"I mentioned that to Mike. I said, 'You know we don't get opportunities. At the end of the day, you're fired and that's it. Right, wrong or indifferent. Tyrone Willingham was the only one who got fired and got hired again. We get bad jobs and no time to fix them."
  http://www.denverpost.com/cu/ci_22064455/jon-embree-out-colorado-buffaloes-football-coach
Going 1-11 is not going in the right direction and it should be grounds for firing, and many, if not most coaches who only have a 1 win season are fired, and most of them are white.
I've supported John Hauck, UNLV coach and who only won 2 games this season because I do see some improvement and there is no successful history of football at UNLV for many years.  Colorado, on the other hand, has had a rich tradition of many successful football seasons.
Further, Coach Embree still gets paid $1,500,000 still owed on his contract and he doesn't even have to anything.
So, coach, cry me a river.  You didn't get fired from coaching because you are black, you got fired for a 1-11 season.  And complaining about racism probably just black balled you from other head and assistant coaching jobs in the near and long term future.

More NASA Stupidity

To contact us Click HERE
Remember, we used to have a decent NASA program, that was successful and productive?
Well, with the help of George Bush and P:resident Obama, NASA is pretty much dead when it comes to space travel and the few flights they do have, Russia has to be there to bail us out.
From the Orlando Sentinel: Sometime early next year, a new U.S. rocket is expected to rise from the sandy shores of eastern Virginia.
Built by Orbital Sciences of Dulles, Va., and dubbed Antares — for the bright star of the same name — the rocket represents NASA's latest attempt to break Russia's dominance of the global launch business.
The goal of the test flight is to see whether Antares can reach orbit, a steppingstone toward its ultimate mission of ferrying cargo to the International Space Station. That is a job principally handled by Russia since NASA retired the space shuttle last year.
But even if the Orbital launch is a success, it won't mean NASA will have escaped Moscow's orbit. For the twin engines powering Antares won't be American originals; instead, they are derived from the decades-old, and now defunct, Soviet moon program.
The irony highlights what some say is a critical failure of U.S. space policy: Only two American companies — Lockheed Martin and SpaceX — build the type of high-performance, liquid-fuel rocket engines that are critical to space missions. And they don't sell to rivals.
As a result, U.S. space companies big and small are forced to turn to Russia. Even Boeing — whose Atlas V rocket is a workhorse for the Pentagon and so reliable that NASA is hoping it can carry astronauts to the station in a few years — uses Russian-built engines.
"The problem goes beyond Orbital," said John Logsdon, a space expert at George Washington University. "The problem is that we [Americans] are still not investing in advanced liquid-propulsion technology."  http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/space/os-orbital-launch-soviet-engines-20121125,0,4583061.story
The reason for the private companies to buy old Russian rockets is economic, but that is shameful.
The United States used to be a leader in space travel and now we are almost completely dependent on other countries for space exploration.

From the Orlando Sentinel:
Deputies blow up 2 grenades found in Christmas
Children playing in a yard in rural Christmas Saturday found a live, rusty grenade, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.
The 10-year-olds told a parent, who called deputies at about 2 p.m., sheriff's Lt. Paul Hopkins said.
At about 5 p.m., the sheriff's bomb squad blew up the grenade, which deputies think was at least 30 years old. Then they found a second grenade and detonated it, too.
The Sheriff's Office plans to notify the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers so the agency can investigate whether the area was used in military training and more grenades may be on that land.  http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/breakingnews/os-grenade-fort-christmas-road-20121124,0,5698155.story

Good Riddance To This California Judge

To contact us Click HERE
Another reason why liberals should not be judges:
From the Sacramento Bee: Twenty years ago, when he first ran for judge, Lloyd G. Connelly sat down to talk to the man he would soon replace on the Sacramento Superior Court bench.
"I asked him, 'Why are you retiring?' " Connelly said of his conversation with the late Judge Horace Cecchettini. "And he said, 'I've put enough men in prison.' "
Connelly has since come to the same realization that hit Cecchettini in 1992. "At the moment of my death," Connelly said, "there will be scores of people in prison that I put there." It is a reality that has become embedded in his own consciousness, "a weight I now carry."
Now, it's the 66-year-old Judge Connelly who is about to retire. He has other reasons for stepping down, but he said the awesome power of a judge to bury criminals under prison terms that don't expire until they die has come with a burden that requires constant re-examination.
Connelly ordered them locked up in numbers too big to count: cop killers like Dundell Wright, rapists/murderers like John Anthony Bertsch and Jeffery Lee Hronis, gang killers like Steven Duran. Every time he sentenced somebody to prison, Connelly said, he took a moment to "fully appreciate the humanness of it," to "make sure you're not doing stuff automatically."
"You wouldn't want a judge who didn't understand that is a weight, an obligation," he said. "You do it. You're comfortable in your decision. It's the right thing to do. But it's still a very hard decision."  http://www.sacbee.com/2012/11/25/5008383/retiring-sacramento-judge-reflects.html
The story goes on and on and all this idiot judge thinks about is the people who he sent to prison.  No worries about the victims, though.
Another reason why liberals are not good judges, especially in the criminal courts.
Good bye and good riddance, "Judge" Connelly.

Union Epic Fail: Only 50 Wal-Mart Employees Protest

To contact us Click HERE
From the Washington Examiner:  Wal-Mart claimed today that the much-hyped Black Friday protests at the non-union retail giant fizzled out, with only 50 associates – their term for employees – taking part. The United Food and Commercial Workers union, which organized the protests, disputed that figure though. It said “hundreds and hundreds” joined in at events across the country. The Washington Examiner could not find an independent estimate for the protests.
Even assuming the UFCW figure is correct, that is pretty small given that Wal-Mart is the nation’s largest employer, with 1.4 million people working at its stores. Wal-Mart also claimed at least 10 million transactions since its stores opened late Thursday, which would make 2012 its best Black Friday ever.
The UFCW, whose members mainly work for Wal-Mart’s competitors, has long battled the retail giant. It backed it a now-defunct non-profit group called Wake-Up Walmart, which attacked the retailer. More recently, it has backed groups called OUR Walmart and Making Change at Walmart.  http://washingtonexaminer.com/wal-mart-only-50-employees-protested-ufcw-disputes/article/2514212#.ULHqyWc8VXs
I think Wal-Mart's number are closer to being correct as most Wal-Mart employees were working on Good Friday.
But, no matter how you look at it, the union protest were an epic failure.  Wal-Mart had a great weekend, sales wise, very few employees protested
Most people are tired of the UFCW hiring picketers outside Wal-Mart stores, paying them unsustainable wages with no health insurance or other benefits, so they ignore the protests and go shopping at Wal-Mart anyways.
Maybe the SEIU should stop wasting their dues paying members money and stop trying to unionize Wal-Mart employees.  It's just not going to happen.

UNLV Loses Again, Time For A Change?

To contact us Click HERE
From the Las Vegas Sun: This could be considered be a new low for the UNLV football team.
The Rebels were limited to 203 yards Saturday against host Hawaii in the season finale, struggling from start to finish in a 48-10 defeat to extend their road losing streak to 22 straight games and finish the season with a 2-11 record.
UNLV was the betting favorite in its final four games, but couldn’t beat the teams they were supposed to in posting a 1-3 record down the stretch. The loss to Hawaii, the last place team in the Mountain West Conference, is easily the most disappointing.
Hawaii ranked 116th out of 124 Division I teams in points scored and 121st in points allowed, but didn’t play like a team whose only previous win came against a lower-division school.
The game was essentially over by halftime with UNLV, which had just one first down and 39 yards in the first half, unable to move the ball offensively and trailing 31-0.  http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/nov/24/rebels-sink-new-low-loss-hawaii/
When Bobby Hauck was hired at UNLV from Montana, I was very optimistic.  He had won a national championship and knew how to win.
But like many a coach before him, Hauck has failed at UNLV.  He still has not won on the road and UNLV lost to teams, like Hawaii, they should not have lost to.
So, is it time for a coaching change, like what should happen at the Wisconsin Badgers?
But if UNLV fires Hauck, who can they bring in who would do a better job?  If a coach like Hauck cannot turn the program, who can?  Who would be a better coach and who can do a better job recruiting?
Face it, high quality football players don't want to come to UNLV.  The weather sucks for the first 4 months of the season, and even we are the entertainment capital of the country, it isn't if you are younger than 21.  You have to be 21 to enter casinos and enjoy the party life in Vegas.
The UNLV campus sucks, with lousy course offerings for football players and the training facilities are horrid.  UNLV ought to rent out Bishop Gorman High School's football stadium and training facilities.
Every year, there are several Division 1 recruits in Clark County but rarely do they stay and go to UNLV.  We lose the recruits to UN-Reno, schools in Utah and other Northwest states because the kids don't want to stay in Las Vegas.
So, I think Bobby Hauck should stay at least another year because if they fire him, I don't think they will find anybody better than Hauck.

ObamaCare Claims Another Victim(s)

To contact us Click HERE
 From the Detroit Free Press:
Concerned that a new nonprofit Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan might bleed dry its assets by sending them to for-profit subsidiaries, a state lawmaker is proposing it write a $500 check to each Michigan citizen before the insurer is allowed to transform its current business structure.
"I'm not sure if $500 is the right number, but I'm putting it forward," said state Rep. Tom McMillin, R-Rochester Hills.
For 30 years, the Blues in Michigan has been considered the insurer of last resort, a special status that exempts it from paying about $100 million in local and state taxes every year, but requires it to extend coverage to everybody, whatever their health status.
Additionally, the Blues' rate hikes are subject to oversight by the state's attorney general.
Under the plan put forth in September by Gov. Rick Snyder, the Blues would be turned into a nonprofit mutual insurer, be regulated like other insurers, and lose its tax-exempt status. Blue Cross officials have said the change is crucial with health care reform on the horizon.  http://www.freep.com/article/20121124/NEWS06/311240036/Blue-Cross-payment-of-500-to-Michigan-residents-proposed?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|FRONTPAGE|p
So, because of ObamaCare, in Michigan, an insurance company that used to take in everybody now has to cut back and some people will no longer be insured by Blue Cross and Blue Shield..
Aren't you glad, Democrats?
And what about Obama, the moron who promised no one's insurance would change.  Obama lied again.

This Sucks: "Dirty Jobs" Canceled

To contact us Click HERE
This sucks.
From the Baltimore Sun: Baltimore native and Towson University graduate Mike Rowe informed fans on Thanksgiving Eve that the Discovery Channel show he hosted, "Dirty Jobs," was no more.
Rowe, the show's creator and executive producer, wrote on his blog that it was canceled:
"A few weeks ago, I was officially informed that Dirty Jobs had entered into a new phase," Rowe wrote on his blog. "One I like to call, 'permanent hiatus.' Or in the more popular industry vernacular, canceled."
"Dirty Jobs" was a reality show in which Rowe and his crew traveled across the country to document some of the most unsavory jobs.
"Dirty Jobs is a very personal show, and it's difficult for me to imagine a future that does not involve exploding toilets, venomous snakes, misadventures in animal husbandry, and feces from every species," he wrote.

He thanked his crew -- but especially the American public, both for watching for eight years and for sharing their worlds with him.
"From pig farmers to bridge painters, roughnecks to gandy dancers, your hospitality was exceeded only by your candor and good humor," Rowe continued. "According to the credits, I am the host of Dirty Jobs, but really, it's been you guys all along. I'm just the guest, and you have made me feel welcome on 300 different occasions in all 50 states." http://www.baltimoresun.com/features/baltimore-insider-blog/bal-towson-grad-mike-rowe-loses-his-dirty-job-20121123,0,1929299.story
From Mike Rowe's Blog:  It never fails.
Whenever Dirty Jobs goes off the air for a few months, people start to wonder if the show has been canceled. Rumors begin to swirl, and questions about the show’s future fill my inbox. Over the years it’s been my pleasure to assure anxious fans that Dirty Jobs is coming back for another season. And indeed, we always have. Alas, this year, I’m afraid I cannot dispel the rumors. A few weeks ago, I was officially informed that Dirty Jobs had entered into a new phase. One I like to call, “permanent hiatus.” Or in the more popular industry vernacular, canceled.  http://www.mikeroweworks.com/scrap-yard/mikes-blog/
This is one show I will miss, the pig farm in Las Vegas:

When You Play With Thugs, You Get Burned

To contact us Click HERE
From Michelle Malkin: Black Friday always brings out the worst: long lines, short tempers and random outbreaks of shoppers’ rage. This year, Big Labor will ratchet up the Strikesgiving tension with professional grievance-mongers and workers picketing at 1,000 Wal-Mart stores nationwide. (In Las Vegas, there were no protests- smart employees)...
Wal-Mart, SEIU and CAP together endorsed Obamacare’s employer mandate and “shared responsibility” provisions, which they called “important proposals that should be included in the current efforts to reform our nation’s health care system.” These unholy alliances were forged out of Wal-Mart’s desperation and political expediency....
Wal-Mart foolishly contributed between $500,000 and $999,999 to Podesta and his Soros-backed Center for American Progress. But Soros’ MoveOn hit team is now instigating the Black Friday strikes online.
Similar corporate outreach to the Congressional Black Caucus brought rebukes from, you guessed it, SEIU leaders, which blasted Wal-Mart for “undermining standards for all American workers.”
Never mind that Wal-Mart employs 1.3 million people, 250,000 of whom have been there for more than 10 years and 165,000 of whom are hourly associates who were promoted last year.
Nor will the company ever have the sympathies of the president — despite first lady Michelle Obama’s comfy seat on the corporate board of directors of TreeHouse Foods Inc. Wal-Mart happens to be the conglomerate’s biggest customer.
The TreeHouse Foods position netted Mrs. Obama $45,000 in 2005 and $51,200 in 2006 — as well as 7,500 TreeHouse stock options worth more than $72,000 for each year. While Mrs. Obama welcomed Wal-Mart’s decision to team up with her on her anti-”food deserts” campaign last year, Obama’s union cronies at the SEIU and AFL-CIO once again excoriated the nation’s largest employer.
“Wal-Mart should not be celebrated for false contributions to our communities and glitzy public relations campaigns that disguise their destructive policies,” the union bosses railed.
President Obama has said nothing about the strike actions, but he made his allegiances clear in 2007, when he told union activists he “would not shop” at Wal-Mart. Company heir Samuel Walton forked over $300,000 to the Priorities USA super PAC, run by former Obama flack Bill Burton. How’s that working out?
For the sake of its survival, I hope the Black Friday lesson isn’t lost on the rest of Wal-Mart’s management and heirs.
When you lie down with thugs, you get up with … more black eyes  http://michellemalkin.com/2012/11/23/wal-mart-vs-the-mob/
Wal-Mart has a lot of smart and dedicated employees who really know the truth about what is reality versus what the union puts out.
But upper management wants to play nice with liberals and that just isn't going to work.  No matter what Wal-Mart does in trying to appease liberals, it's not going to work and they shouldn't even try.
Wal-Mart ought to concentrate on it's customers instead of liberal special interest groups because the liberals are going to hate Wal-Mart no matter what.

More ObamaCare Bad News For Employees

From Breitbart.com: Pennsylvania's Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) is slashing the hours of 400 adjunct instructors, support staff, and part-time instructors to dodge paying for Obamacare.
"It's kind of a double whammy for us because we are facing a legal requirement [under the new law] to get health care and if the college is reducing our hours, we don't have the money to pay for it," said adjunct biology professor Adam Davis.
On Tuesday, CCAC employees were notified that Obamacare defines full-time employees as those working 30 hours or more per week and that on Dec. 31 temporary part-time employees will be cut back to 25 hours. The move will save an estimated $6 million.
"While it is of course the college’s preference to provide coverage to these positions, there simply are not funds available to do so," said CCAC spokesperson David Hoovler. "Several years of cuts or largely flat funding from our government supporters have led to significant cost reductions by CCAC, leaving little room to trim the college’s budget further."
The solution, says United Steelworkers representative Jeff Cech, is that adjunct professors should unionize in an attempt to thwart schools seeking similar cost-savings efforts from avoiding Obamacare.  "They may be complying with the letter of the law, but the letter of law and the spirit of the law are two different things," said Mr. Cech. "If they are doing it at CCAC, it can't be long before they do it other places."Under the new CCAC policy, adjunct professors will only be allowed to teach 10 credit hours a semester. Adjuncts are paid $730 per credit hour.
"We all know we are expendable," said Mr. Davis, "and there are plenty of people out there in this economy who would be willing to have our jobs."  http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/11/21/Surprise-PA-College-Slashes-Hours-To-Avoid-Obamacare
I'm sure the liberals are so proud of ObamaCare and the ramifications of the law.  I just wonder how many of these professors who have had their hours or jobs cut are liberal and Obama voters.  If they are, talk about karma.
This is happening all over the country, all courtesy of Harry Reid, Shelly Berkley and Dina Titus from Nevada, Nancy Pelosi and Democrats around the country.  This is 100% on the Democrats- it's their baby- they own it and they are responsible for it's effects, including people losing their jobs or having their hours cut.
And in 1 voice, those affected are all saying "Thank You Democrats for my job loss or hours being cut.  I'll take one for the team".
